as Kirk Inman's help with BIN95's Downtime Studies.
An example of how they have helped.
Timesaver provided a service to a small company who sold on average 5
mil. per/year. They had a total of 18 employees. They had one assembly
line and multiple machining processes to sustain the production effort.
At the time Time Saver was called in to help them, they produced 1200
units each year and they built 2 different models. Each time they changed
from one model to the other, they invested somewhere between 3 and 4 full
days to change the line over and additional time to move materials around
in the machining and welding areas. TimerSaver set the efficiency at 40%
and then began reviewing alternatives to reduce and even eliminate
downtime and delay.
The company today builds 6 different models and is producing 13 mil.
per/year with a total of 22 employees. What a difference it makes, when
you can effectively eliminate the non-value downtime.
This is the problem in small and medium size company's today. They get
caught up in doing things one way and are reluctant to change because it
is change....
If you have the chance, review a few small manufacturers and you will see
what I mean. Our fee for the company who now produces 13 mil. in product
was less than $15,000.

A
specialized engineering school.
ERI is a specialized engineering school. We focus on the reliability
and durability of equipment ranging from aircraft to automobiles to
telecom systems to satellites.
Not only consulting manufacturing, but those requiring severe
environment reliability training. Those who want reliability in
tougher-than-factory conditions: over-the-road, over-the-waves,
through-rough-air, guns firing, rocket-takeoff, explosive stage
separation, arctic night, desert noon, etc.

This company made it into our section because of their efforts to
create a system for tracking downtime that is cost effective. ATSI
provides software and hardware solutions for manufacturers, ranging
from logging machine downtime, lubrication tracking, ISO9000 logging and
reporting software, asset management and maintenance/process data
collection to production counting. ATSI also distributes a small
economical line of PLC, suitable for small machine or conveyor control.
There
is no magic crystal ball that will fix machine downtime.
Downtime only gets fixed by diligent study of the causes of that
downtime and work to eliminate those causes.
Their systems takes the information from the people that know why
the machine went down and puts that data into the hands of the people that
can do something about it long term. |
